Lisa Harper delivers a great message with humor and dives deep into the Gospel of Mark to find new truths. I highly recommend it for personal study or small group study. We have had great group discussions afterward. The DVD is approx 25-30 minutes and keeps your full attention.Love this Bible study! Doing it with a group of ladies at work. The study book is nice. Questions make a person think.I am currently doing this study as part of an online bible study through Lifeway. I've done many online bible studies, though this is my first one through Lifeway and my first one with Lisa Harper. I really like Lisa's accompanying videos for this study. I get much more from those than I have from the book itself. I can appreciate how Lisa ties in personal stories to relate them to ones happening in the Bible, but at times those seem to be more of the focus than what is actually happening in Mark. Perhaps this isn't a study that is good to do alone, and would be better received in a traditional small group? I'm not sure what was lacking for me, but the book itself didn't aid much in learning more about Mark's gospel. I also had a hard time connecting the dots to some of the questions that were being asked in the book, and what it exactly had to do with the current verses being studied in Mark.I have been facilitating video based studies for about 8 years. My class enjoyed this study and the videos very much. We enjoyed Lisa's humor and her heart and personal stories. We also enjoyed studying Mark, finding that many of us were not as familiar with Mark as we were the other gospels. We didn't plan to finish the study during the week leading up to Easter, but it was very meaningful to do so. The workbook was set up different from other studies we had done, but it was a refreshing change.I'm midway through this study of the Book of Mark and I'm loving it! I'm also listening to the weekly podcast online. It's helping me to grow in my faith of Jesus Christ and delve deeper into understanding the Word of God. I highly recommend this study to anyone interested in deepening their understanding of Christ's life here on earth and the magnitude of his Love for us. Do this study!!!Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of Lisa Harper's style. I've done her Hebrews study and The Gospel of Mark, and find them a bit tedious for me. An occasional folksy story is nice, but when they tend to drag on page after page, chapter after chapter, it's not something I personally enjoy. Two of my closest Christian friends absolutely love her style - so there you go!I have no doubt Lisa Harper is an anointed teacher, but the style isn't really for me. I tend to enjoy the style of Pricilla Shirer or Stormy Omartian a little better.Have a blessed day! There was much more writing in the book than I expected.
