This is a good study guide for middle school students as is. It can be adjusted to work for any age range. It provides a starting point and helps the instructor develop a plan. It consists of vocabulary words for each chapter (grouped in chapters of 2). The words are presented in two forms. First, as a matching exercise and secondly, as a fill in the blank, crossword puzzle, or other application skill. Each 2 chapter unit also introduces a literary element such as cliff hangers, plot, settings, etc as well an exercise to expand on a key action in the story. I used it for a 2nd grade, 4th grade, and 7th grade student by adjusting each exercise. For my 2nd grade, I used pictures describing the vocabulary words and made a matching game by placing the word on one card and the picture representing it on another. We discussed the literary elements. My older students were able to do the exercises from the book with adding a little more for my oldest. It was well worth the price and I do plan to buy others. The pages are perforated for easy copying.
